DEPARTMENT OF SHALAKYA TANTRA

Shalakyatantra is important branch of ayurveda which deals with diagnosis and management of diseases above the clavicle (Urdhwa jatrugata vikaraas) ie. Diseases of Netra(Eyes),Karna(Ear), Nasa (Nose),Mukha(Oral cavity)&Shira(Head).These being the vital sensory organs , there is a direct need to protect and preserve the health of these organs , hence known as Uttamanga Chikitsa Tantra.  Netra roga vigyan is having utmost importance because if vision is lost a blind man can not enjoy the world. So, it is explained that “sarvendriyanam nayanam pradhanam”. The department has a collection of charts and models of Eye and Ear, Nose+, Throat.

Facilities in OPD – Our department provides best possible patient care with established ayurvedic management on opd and ipd level. Varieties of clinical tests are executed in OPD with the aid of instruments like opthalmoscope, otoscope, tunning fork, slit lamp, bull’s lamp and torch test.

Vision is examined with the help of snellen’s chart , near vision chart .
Autorefraction , tonometry , sac syringing for assessment of patient.

The department also imparting awareness and diagnostic camps for ENT and Opthalmology.

Vision – 

1) To conduct practical confirmation and assessment of theoretical knowledge successfully.

2) To popularize treatment of kriyakalpas like tarpan , ashchotan , bidalak , anjana which are speciality  of netra roga treatment and nasya ,gandush , karnapurana, dhoompana, shirodhara which form the basis of karna , nasa , shir, mukhroga.

3) To emphasize quality and value based education to obtain optimum skill in field of shalakya tantra.    

Mission-

To provide quality teaching at PG level by using advanced learning tools. 

Research orientation in unexplored areas of ayurveda ophthalmology & ENT.

Everyone should get benefited from Ayurvedic approach towards Eye, ENT & Dental disorders.
